Accessibility
Last updated October 20, 2026.
We want everyone to be able to read the menu, find the door and get in touch, whatever device or assistive technology they use.
Our commitment
Moby Dick Restaurants Ltd. aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and works in the spirit of the Accessible British Columbia Act and the Accessible Canada Act.
What we have done
- The menu is real text on the page, not a PDF, so it can be read aloud, searched, enlarged and printed.
- Pages use clear headings, labels and a logical reading order, with a skip link and landmarks.
- Everything works with a keyboard, and the focused element is always visible.
- Text and interface colours were checked with a contrast tool, not by eye.
- Every meaningful photograph has a text description.
- The site respects your reduced-motion setting.
- On a phone, Call, Directions and the menu are one tap away on every page.
- Pages reflow at large text sizes and at up to 400% zoom without sideways scrolling.
Where we stand
The site is new and still being reviewed, so we describe it as partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA: most of it meets the standard, and anything that does not is on our list. The map on the Find Us page is provided by Google, and its accessibility depends partly on them; the same information is on that page as text.
In the restaurant
- The front door is step-free: there is no step between the sidewalk and the restaurant.
- There is a single step on the way to our accessible washroom.
- Service animals are welcome. We cannot allow other animals.
Tell us
If you hit a barrier on this website, or need help getting information from it, email info@mobydickrestaurant.com or call 604-536-2424. Telling us which page it happened on and what you were trying to do helps us fix it faster. We aim to respond within two business days.
