Privacy Policy

Moby Dick Restaurants Ltd., trading as Moby Dick Restaurant (“we”, “us”), runs this website and the restaurant at 15479 Marine Drive, White Rock, BC V4B 1C9. This page says what personal information the website collects, why, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information under British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

The contact form. Your name, email address and message. The form emails them to us at info@mobydickrestaurant.com; the website itself keeps no copy. To stop automated spam, the site notes when the form was opened and counts submissions from each internet address for one hour. Those counts are discarded automatically.

Phone and email. If you call or write to us, we use what you tell us to answer you and, if you asked for one, to prepare your order.

Server logs. Our web host records limited technical information when you visit (your internet address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. This is standard operational logging.

Cookies. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and there are no analytics scripts on this site. WordPress sets a cookie only when someone signs in, which only our staff do.

The map. Our Find Us page shows a Google Map. When it loads, Google receives your internet address and may set its own cookies under Google’s privacy policy. If you would rather not load it, the address and a directions link are on the page as plain text.

How we use it

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising.

Who else sees it

A small number of service providers handle information on our behalf: our web host and site maintainer (Morrison Sites, hosting in Canada), our email provider, and Google for the map. Each sees only what it needs to do its job.

How long we keep it

Emails and messages are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your request, then deleted. Anti-spam counts last one hour. Server logs are kept by our host for a short period for security.

Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to our using it, subject to legal limits. Email info@mobydickrestaurant.com or call 604-536-2424. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Children

This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
